A downloadable game

This is my latest project, and it’s my most ambitious one so far. It started life as an experiment to create a simple procedurally generated world, but once I had completed that I thought “why stop there?”.

Inspired by games like “Godus”, “Islanders” and “Age of Empires 2”, “Time Tribe” is a casual time-based city-building strategy game. The player will control a small tribe on an island made up of 100 randomly generated cubes.

At the start of the each game the player will have to place their tribes first hut, and they will only have access to the basic buildings. For example, the hut, farm and granary. With these buildings they will be able to grow their population. Points will be awarded for each building built, and for completing a point quota within the time limit.

The goal of the game will be to reach point quota within a time limit, for example 500 points within the first 5 minutes. Upon successful completion of a point quota, the player's tribe will reach a new "age", and the player will get access to build new types of buildings, such as the forrester and quarry, all the way up to taverns and temples.

Due to the randomly generated islands, the player will need to change their strategy every time they play, as the time limits mean it's important to maximise their tribespeople's efficiency, by minimising distance from farm to granary giving the workers more time to farm, for example.
The game is designed to be casual, so each game will only last around 30 minutes. The game will end if the player doesn't meet a point quota within the time limit, or when they reach the maximum point quota. At the end of each round the player's score will be uploaded to the online leaderboards as long as it's their personal best.

The game is still very much a work-in-progress. However, a lot of the functionality is already implemented and hopefully it won't be long before a true playable prototype is available!
